About me and my purpose

Lived Experience Trauma Informed Facilitator

Hi! My name is Sherrie and I am Autistic and have ADHD.

I am a avid arts fanatic and regularly do art to assist management of my disabilities and mental health. I love all types of creative arts such as dancing, singing, small world tray play, sculpture and papier mache, dancing and painting.

I am currently studying the Diploma of Creative Arts and Health with the University of Tasmania. This course explores the benefits of creative arts on our brains and how the arts can reduce the likelihood of dementia and aid memory and positive emotional feelings when diagnosed with dementia or other disabilities or medical conditions. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

I currently work in the disability sector, aged care and have worked in community settings.

I have a love for sensory play, loose part adventure play, lego, yoga, ballroom and salsa dancing and mindfulness.

It is my dream to see the arts recognised as a valid form of treatment to people with mental illness and for people to see creative arts as important as eating and sleeping.
